Not "large" and can't hold the fruit I expected it to

Based on the picture, I was planning on using this a fruit bowl ... but this bowl would maybe hold 3 apples in a line. It can not hold a bunch of bananas. I'm trying to give it another purpose in my home. It's a beautiful bowl, but it isn't "large" and could in no way hold fruit like the picture shows.
