A few weeks ago, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Tunisia — the heart of where all of our olive wood products begin their journey. From the moment I stepped off the plane, I knew this wasn’t going to be just another business trip. I was invited by our trusted partners who have helped bring our olive wood vision to life — and what they showed me was nothing short of unforgettable.
Tunisia is home to some of the oldest olive trees in the world. The climate, the soil, and the history all combine to create a unique environment where olive wood thrives. This is where we source every single one of our handcrafted products — from cutting boards and utensils to bowls, cups, and trays. But seeing the process with my own eyes gave me a whole new level of appreciation for the work that goes into each piece.
I was fortunate enough to tour the full production process — from tree to table.
That phrase stuck with me the entire trip: "From tree to table." Because that’s exactly what it is. I watched as massive pieces of olive wood were harvested, carefully dried, hand-cut, shaped, and sanded by skilled artisans who have spent their lives working with this incredible material. Every groove, grain, and knot tells a story — and these craftsmen know how to bring it to life.
We also toured the distribution facilities where the finished pieces are packaged, inspected, and prepared to ship across the world —very similar to my shop in Houston. What stood out more than the operation & logistics was the people. I met the entire team behind the scenes — the men and women who pour their passion into every item we carry. Their pride in their work is contagious, and it reminded me why we started sourcing olive wood in the first place.
This trip was more than a business visit — it was a reminder of how important craftsmanship, tradition, and relationships are in what we do. It deepened my commitment to bringing only the highest-quality, ethically sourced olive wood products to our customers — products that carry the soul of Tunisia in every grain.
If you’ve ever held one of our boards, bowls, or utensils in your hand, just know: it’s not just a piece of wood. It’s part of a story — a journey — that begins with a centuries-old tree and ends at your table.
From tree to table. That’s the olive wood story of Tunisia. And now, it’s part of our story too.
